My Nootropic Experiments
You know that I’ve been testing different sorts of nootropics that all claim to boost mental performance. My clear favorite so far is Qualia Mind. To me, it is not just the best product in terms of its benefits and the level of sophistication in the formula but it is also made by a group of people with very bright minds and a big vision: Neurohacker Collective.
Now Neurohacker created a new product – and the first of its kind: The Qualia Nootropic Energy Shot. Other ‘energy shots’ are basically a smaller version of an energy drink. This one is way more complex.
Qualia Nootropic Energy contains 12 active compounds: Advanced nootropic ingredients like nooLVL and EnXtra and other more common ingredients like L-Theanine and Organic Coffeeberry in a unique blend.
Claims of the Liquid Nootropic Shot
Neurohacker claims the following benefits:
- Clean Lasting Energy
- Enhanced Mental & Athletic Performance
- Boosted Memory & Productivity
- Alertness & Focus
Since I already knew the effectiveness of the pills (Qualia Mind) I was wondering: Is this like Qualia Mind as a drink?
What are Nootropics?
If you are new to nootropics, this if for you. Otherwise, skip the next three paragraphs.
A simple definition of a nootropic is a compound that affects the brain. Nootropics can improve cognitive functions like focus, memory, and creativity.
You probably tried out nootropics before, without naming them nootropics: Coffee with its brain-active compound: caffeine, green tea with a compound called L-Theanine or ginger with it’s 10-gingerol and 6-shogaol compounds.
We biohackers call special products that come often in the form of pills: nootropics or nootropic stacks. Stacks, because those products combine or stack multiple nootropic compounds in one pill to create an effect that is bigger than the sum of its parts. Those active compounds can influence and support each other to create system-wide effects in the brain.
Benefits of the Qualia Nootropic Energy
I’ve tried four Qualia Nootropic Energy shots so far. The first one a couple of weeks ago when I visited the Neurohacker Collective office in Carlsbad, California. They actually filmed an interview with me on Neurohacker Collective. During the video shoot I tried the liquid shot and within two minutes noticed a strong effect.
I used another shot Monday morning in the office and a two more while writing this article and editing videos. For me, the effect is very consistent so far. Every time I took it, I got the same effects.
Instant Effects
Within two to five minutes I feel an instant focus on whatever task I am working on. When I am in a conversation I am ‘zoomed in’ and way more present. It actually feels like it draws me in a state of mini-meditation. My mind is calm and I am present with whatever or whomever I am with.
Productivity & Flow
The effect is very strong for around one hour to 90 minutes and then slowly wears off.
Throughout the first 90 to 120 minutes, I feel ultra-productive. I get faster into a flow state. I become ‘one’ with the task at hand and solve complex problems effectively.
For me, the first two to three hours I still feel it remarkably. After three hours it becomes very light and less feelable.
There is no crash or tiredness afterward like I would get from low quality coffee or an energy drink. It is more a slow and constant come-down.
By the way: A gave a co-worker just a third of a shot and he noticed the same effects quite instantly. So I think you don’t even have to take one full shot.

FAQ
It tastes earthy and like berries. Nothing like a regular energy drink. Kinda neutral but also not super nice. It’s okay for a shot.
I would call myself a little caffeine-sensitive and for me it is okay. You might wanna take only half a shot first to test it or use Qualia Mind Caffeine Free instead.
